Scotland’s Best Kept Secret

NIGHTMARE

2008

ALEXANDER PEACOCK

RUNNING TIME: 10 MINS

A man finds himself haunted by an otherworldly figure after meeting him in a graveyard.

BACKGROUND

This film was placed into production days after Experiment No. 2 was completed with a presentation deadline set for Halloween. Peacock set himself the goal of making his first narrative film, using a small crew, multiple songs, dramatic tension, as well as introducing an additional actor. Because of the new challenges presented by this there are several continuity goofs in the beginning portion of the work. This was the first time Iain Anderson had acted since his early school days.

DIRECTOR NOTES

This was my first time working with a crew, albeit a small one of two non-professionals. We wanted to make something spooky and fun so I quickly put this idea together of a man being hunted by a stranger who takes over his dreams. Looking back it’s not that dissimilar an idea to the villain in ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ but it wasn’t in my mind at the time. I really enjoyed this shoot, there was really no planning and things were being created on the spot, a process I employ in parts of my shoots to this day. Quirky little film.
